So, here’s a little background info on me…

My name is Karen and I was born on a Sunday at 3pm (no ordinary Sunday, but the autumn Equinox) in a small suburb of Altrincham (Manchester UK) in the early 60s (1962 to be exact) I have a younger sister who lives in sunny France with her family and an older brother who lives with his family in beautiful north Yorkshire as do my parents! I also live in Yorkshire with my family around an hour's drive from Pendle.

We all moved to Yorkshire in the late 60s (1969) we lived on a new housing estate which had been the grounds of an old abandoned house, I remember finding my first ammonite in the earth by the side of the house, a fascination with history and all things historical began.

Fast forward a few years (well quite a few) creating things had come naturally to me, I became a tutor and would create all kinds of resources, I had a love of silver, the moon and stars, crystals all things paranormal and magical.

I went back to college and attended a silversmithing course, where I learnt the basics and by researching different techniques, I became more confident about creating silver jewellery, however I wanted to make unusual and unique pieces, but not from ordinary silver, but cutlery! Not sure how, but I found a picture of a silver spoon ring on my mobile and thought I could do that!

I first researched the beginnings of the spoon ring which dated from the 17th century where a solid silver spoon would be made into a wedding ring how romantic!

I now scour the country far and wide to find the perfect antique (the older the better) solid silver cutlery sometimes acquiring them from America or Canada.

So, let’s take a magical journey together to see what history we can find!

With love Karen x
